Let's talk your gym sessions + specifically those ones that just SUCK
You can do every little thing right
And still have a shit training session
Because guess what? You're not a robot
You can get your 8 hours of sleep
You can have your pre-training coffee
You can do all your warm ups + mobility
And then boom! Your main exercises go to shit
Your body doesn't want to play ball
In this moment you have two choices..
1. Beat yourself up, force yourself to stay + then spend the rest of the day feeling pissed off and frustrated
or
2. Accept that you can't control everything. Finish off the session with some stretching/ a walk/ any exercise you feel you want to play with and then leave. Draw a line under it. Go seek some sunshine or listen to a podcast
I say this as someone who wasted years beating myself up about my "shit" performance on some days
Especially those hormonal ones..
My clients often feel the same. They're used to the guilt/shame spiral
But as my hero client Jas said to me this week "I knew I had to get the fuck out of there before my brain was like “grow up and finish your work out”. I don’t HAVE to be in pain. Also removing myself from the situation was what I needed. I don’t feel guilty, old me would feel guilty"
You do not need to feel guilt around your training session
Because you can do all the things and it still not work out
That's okay
Make peace with it
And definitely ignore the influencers who always post about how amaaaaazing their workout was
Everyone has a shit one every now and then
It's not just you 💘
